Results from my Heat Wave Tutorial


My "Heat Wave" Tutorial is being used in the tut challenge this week over at the Creative Misfits forum. I'll be posting results from them here as I receive them.

Cool Summer CRAZE

Cool Summer CRAZE
This tutorial was written by Jenny on 8/12/2012. Resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional. I am using the licensed artwork of Alehandra Vanhek. This tube is available for purchase at PicsForDesign (PFD).


Supplies Needed:
1 tube of choice
Scrapkit of choice (I'm using FTU Cool Summer by Scraps Dimensions)
Font of choice (I'm using Scriptina)
WSL Mask220 by Weescotslass

Open a new canvas 600 x 600 and flood fill white.

New raster layer, select with magic wand, copy & paste paper of choice into selection, select none, apply mask, duplicate.

Image, canvas size 800 x 800 and flood fill any empty space with white.

Add lemon frame, resize 65%, move down just a bit, add drop shadow of choice.

Add sand, resize if needed, place below frame and down toward the bottom just a bit.

Select frame.

Add Palm Tree and resize 85%, place to the left of the frame, add drop shadow of choice.

Add torch, resize to your liking, place next to the tree.

Add blimp, resize to your liking, place upward and to the right, add drop shadow of choice.

Add pineapples, resize to your liking, place to the right of the frame, duplicate, mirror.

Add starfish to the first batch of pineapples, resize if needed.

Add tube, resize if needed, place to your liking, add drop shadow of choice.

Now it's time to crop down your tag, resize if needed.

Add copyright/licensing info and text and you're ready to save.
Be sure to save a blank for future use.

If you'd like to save as a transparent PNG layer be sure to hide the white background layer first.

Supplies Needed:
1 tube of choice
Scrapkit of choice (I'm using Summer Lovin' FTU by Crafted by Gina)
Font of choice (I'm using Special Type)
WSL Mask218 by Weescotslass


Open a new canvas 600 x 600 flood fill white.

New raster layer, select with magic wand, copy & paste paper04 into selection, select none, apply mask.

Image, canvas size, 700 x 700, flood fill any empty space with white.

Add sequins1 as a new layer, resize 50%, place bottom left corner of mask, duplicate, image, mirror, flip.

Add frame05, select inside with magic wand, selections, modify, expand by 4, selections, invert, copy & paste paper of choice as a new layer, move below, delete, select none.

Add knot to the left side of the frame, resize to your liking.

Add flowers02 as a new layer, place to the right of the frame.

Add clouds, resize to your liking, place toward bottom of frame.

Add flower07, resize if needed, see my tag for placement.

Add dragonfly03 as a new layer, resize to your liking, add to top left of frame.

Add tube, resize if needed, duplicate, adjust, blur 3, right click, properties, blend mode, soft light.

Now it's time to crop down your tag, resize if needed.

Add copyright/licensing info and text and you're ready to save.
I added a bit of noise to my name.

Be sure to save a blank for future use.

If you'd like to save as a transparent PNG layer be sure to hide the white background layer first.

Beach Party Craze

Supplies Needed:
1 tube of choice
Scrapkit of choice (I'm using FTU By The Ocean by Kittz Kreationz)
Font of choice (I'm using Cutie Pop)
WSL Mask302 by Weescotslass


Open a new canvas 600 x 600 and flood fill white.

New raster layer, select with magic wand, copy & paste paper1 into selection, select none, apply mask.

Image, canvas size 800 x 800 and flood fill any empty spaces with white.

Add frame 2 and resize by 75%.

Add paper of choice, place below frame, use selection tool to select around frame, selections, invert, delete on paper layer, keep selected.

Add waves above paper layer, resize if needed, hit delete, keep selected.

Add seaweed (MF-7), place to the left of the frame, resize if needed, hit delete, select none, duplicate, mirror, this layer should be above paper layer but below waves.

Add flower of choice above the mask layer, upper right corner, resize to your liking, duplicate, flip, mirror.

Select the frame.

Add skull (MF-38) as a new layer, resize to your liking and place accordingly.

Add glass (MF-11), resize to your liking, place to the left of the frame.

Add bubbles, resize if needed, place toward the bottom of the canvas, move this layer to the top, duplicate, bring this layer down so it's above the glass layer in your layer palette, up toward top of frame.

Add MF-43, place next to the glass, resize to your liking.

Add coins (MF-39), resize to your liking, place at the bottom left of frame.

Add ticket, resize as needed, free rotate approx 15 degrees right and place in the upper right corner of the frame.

Add bow and resize to your liking, place to the upper left corner of the frame.

Your first bubble layer should now be next in line on your palette.

Now add your tube. If it's a sitting tube place it on the skull, resize as needed, add drop shadow.

Now it's time to crop down your tag, resize if needed.

Add copyright/licensing info and text and you're ready to save.
Be sure to save a blank for future use.

Open a new canvas 600 x 600 and flood fill white.

New raster layer, select with magic wand, copy & paste a paper of choice into selection, select none, apply mask, duplicate.

Image, canvas size 800 x 800 and flood fill any empty space with white.

Add element21 (frame) as a new layer, resize 50% then 60%.

Add paper of choice, place below frame, use magic wand to select inside the frame, selections, modify, expand by 4, selections, invert, delete on paper layer, keep selected.

Add element37 (sunshine), place inside the frame and at the top, resize to your liking, hit delete, select none.

Add tube, place above sunshine layer, resize if needed, use your selection tool to select the top portion of the tube, right click, promote selection to layer, move to the top, deselect.

Add element27, resize 50% then again 65%, place to the right, add drop shadow of choice, duplicate, flip, mirror.

Add element 7 as a new layer, resize 50% twice then again 65%, place to the upper right, duplicate, flip, mirror.


Select the frame layer.

Add element35 (stitches), resize to your liking.

Add bow, make sure the one side of it is tuck under the tube layer, placed on frame, resize as needed.

Add flowers and banner of choice, resize to your liking and place toward the bottom of the frame.

Now it's time to crop down your tag, resize if needed.

Add copyright/licensing info and text and you're ready to save.
Be sure to save a blank for future use.

Summer Craze on Route 66

Summer Craze on Route 66

Supplies Needed:
1 tube of choice
Scrapkit of choice (I'm using Rock N Roll Summer FTU by Scraps Dimensions)
Font of choice (I'm using Fontdinerdotcom Sparkly and CliveBarker)
gemsmask-72 HERE

Open a new canvas 600 x 600 and flood fill white.

New raster layer, select with magic wand, copy & paste paper of choice into selection, select none, apply mask.

Image, canvas size, 800 x 800 and flood fill any empty space with white.

Add the Diner (the bottom portion which is actually the top layer when you open it), resize 65%.

Add stars with bling of choice and resize to your liking, placing them behind the diner and upward.

Add flower doodle, place above stars with bling and duplicate, arrange them both to your liking by mirroring/flipping, be sure to resize too.

Add records, route 66 sign and soda, resize and arrange to your liking above the diner setting.
I placed mine at the bottom right.

Add musical notes on top of the diner setting, resize, selections, select all, float, defloat, modify, expand by 2, new raster layer, flood fill white, move below, add noise, select none, add drop shadow.

Add tube, resize, add drop shadow and place to your liking.

Now it's time to crop down your tag, resize if needed.

Add copyright/licensing info and text and you're ready to save.
Be sure to save a blank for future use.
