Magic of Prom

Magic of Prom
*animated*

This tutorial was written by Jenny on May 7, 2009. Resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional. I am using artwork © Jennifer Janesko. The image I am using is for example ONLY. Anyone wishing to use the same image MUST purchase it from C.I.L.M. and have proper license from C.I.L.M. for the usage of that tube/image.

Please check her site above for more licensing info as this artist is no longer licensed to CILM due to the closing.

Supplies Needed:
Tube or image of choice
Prom Night PTU Scrapkit by Just A Girl's Designs
Fonts of choice (I'm using Spring for the name and Howser for the saying)
dsb flux bright noise (optional)
animation shop (optional)

Open a new canvas 800 x 800 (Yeah I know that's large but we'll resize at the end :) ).
Flood fill white.

Copy and Paste bkg9 as a new layer, resize 75 %, resize again 85%,add a subtle drop shadow.

Copy and Paste bkg6 as a new layer, resize 75%, resize again 85% and then again 95%, add a subtle drop shadow, free rotate 8 degrees right.

Copy and Paste bkg2 as a new layer, resize 75%, resize again 85% and then again 95%, add a subtle drop shdaow, free rotate 8 degrees left.

Copy and Paste bkg8 as a new layer, resize 75%, resize again 85% and then again 95%, add a subtle drop shadow, free rotate 8 degrees right.

Copy and Paste bkg5 as a new layer, resize 75% and then again by 85%, add subtle drop shadow. This layer should be on top of all other layers.

Open Cluster Frame2, rotate clockwise 90, flip, copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas, add a subtle drop shadow.

Copy and Paste bkg4 as a new layer, move below frame, resize 50%, use your selection tool and draw around both areas of the frame, now copy and paste the skyline as a new layer, keeping it above the bkg4 layer, invert, delete on skyline layer, delete on bkg4 layer, select none, add subtle drop shadow to skyline.

Copy and Paste tube of choice as a new layer, resize if needed, place above skyline layer, add drop shadow, use your selection tool and draw out over the tube and frame, selections, invert and hit delete on the tube, select none.

Close off all layers except for the frame, tube, skyline, bkg4 and merge those layers visible.

Unhide the other layers.

Open string deco, rotate clockwise 90, copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas, add drop shadow, place to the left of your canvas above all other layers, see my tag.

Copy and Paste flower1 as a new layer, resize 50%, add drop shadow, place above all other layers and ontop of the deco string toward the bottom, see my tag, duplicate flower1 and move to the top, again see my tag.

Copy and paste musicalnotes as a new layer, add drop shadow, resize 60%, keep on top of all other layers.

Copy and Paste promticket as a new layer, resize 65%, add drop shadow, free rotate 15 degrees right, place on top and to the right of the frame, see my tag.

Copy and Paste bubbles as a new layer and place to your liking.

Copy and Paste tiera as a new layer, resize 50% and then again 75%, see my tag for placement.

Now you will need to use your crop tool and crop your tag to your liking, then resize if you so desire, 85% is usually a good resize, maybe 80% since we started out so large. Make sure to have resize all layers checked.

Now add copyright layer. If you don't want to animate then add your text and you are done.

If you do want to animate then here are the steps to follow:

Apply the text that you wish to animate, click inside each letter, effects, plugins, dsb flux, bright noise, 46 mix, Copy merged and paste into animation shop.

Back in PSP, undo the effect, apply again changing the setting to 37 mix, copy merged and paste after in animation.

Back in PSP, undo the effect, apply again changing the setting to 55 mix, copy merged and paste after in animation.

You should now have 3 frames in animation shop, select all, animation properties, you can change those if you wish.

save as gif and you're done.

I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial. Thanks for giving it a try.
